Microsoft has a knack for turning rich evocative product names into lumps of dirty coal.
- Avalon –> WPF
- Indigo –> WCF
- Sparkle –> Expression Blend
Actually I think I like the new Blend moniker better than all the previous beta names. Except for Sparkle of course. That was a great name.
I hear that the new name for WPFe will be revealed at MIX ‘07. I’m not sure if that announcement is worth the price of admission ($1195 US) but I’m sure the rest of the show should be extremely interesting.
WPFe is a such a boring name. Microsoft could do so much better don’t you think? I know that you could. If Microsoft invited you to Redmond for a brainstorming session what would you suggest for the new name for WPFe? Â

And one that Microsoft should probably avoid - FlashKiller.
